Boston Mayor Increases Funding for West Roxbury Main Streets

The district will receive $75,000 in funding annually.

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh last week gave a boost to Boston's Main Streets districts, including one located in West Roxbury. 

Main Streets District funding will increase by $400,000, with each Main Streets district receiving $75,000 annually from the city of Boston, a 30 percent increase from last year. 

Boston's 20 Main Streets districts comprise more than 4,000 businesses. West Roxbury is home to West Roxbury Main Streets.

"Investing in our Main Streets districts preserves and protects our neighborhood commercial centers, and helps our small businesses thrive, grow, and adapt to the changing economy," Walsh said in a statement. "Access to a variety of retail in neighborhoods is critical to maintaining robust and connected communities."
