Faulkner Hospital Changes Its Name to Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital

The 100-year-old hospital changed its name as of Monday.

Faulkner Hospital on Monday changed its name to Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital.

The non-profit hospital in Jamaica Plain has for 15 years had a partnership with Brigham and Women's, according to a press release about the name change.

Dr. Michael Gustafson, chief operating officer of the newly-renamed hospital, said in a press statement that the change reflects increasing integration and a "commitment to offer a seamless campus to our patients and to redesign care for maximum efficiency and the best possible outcomes."

The hospital is a 150-bed non-profit, community teaching hospital. It was founded in 1900.

A similar name change took place at Jamaica Plain's Urban Medical a few years ago, when it became Beth Israel Deaconess Jamaica Plain.
