Fore! The First Annual West Roxbury YMCA Golf Open is September 19

Proceeds will benefit the West Roxbury Y's Reach Out Campaign, which provides scholarships for youth and families in the community for childcare, learn-to-swim, and Livestrong programs at the Y.

The first-ever and soon-to-be annual will take place on September 19 at the George Wright Golf Course.

All proceeds go to the which provides scholarships to the community for childcare, learn-to-swim and Livestrong at the Y programs.

YMCA officials were already pleased with the response the community has had for the new golf open. "It's amazing how excited the community has been in supporting this tournament. I think everyone appreciates the family and seniors programs that the Y offers through our Reach-Out Campaign. This our first year and businesses, members and people have been fantastic," said Sean Toland, YMCA Program Director.

Tee off will take place with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start at the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park on Monday, Sept. 19.

The tournament fee is $150 per golfer or $600 per foursome and includes greens fees, cart, and dinner. Tee sign sponsorships are also available for $100 and include tee sign with your logo or message, and visibility on the tournament and Y websites. Program Book advertising options are also available.  

The 19th hole celebration will take place at the in West Roxbury and includes a dinner, raffles, auction, and more. Raffle prizes include gift certificates to: Devlins, Grafton Street, Keldara, Story Land, Mohegan Sun, Bayside Resort in West Yarmouth and Disney World. Sports memorabilia include: Celtics merchandise, a framed blue print of Fenway Park signed by Red Sox great Louie Tiant, and a Wes Welker autographed football.

"It's gearing up to be a fun, terrific day. Lots of prizes, laughs and surprises at the George Wright Golf Course," said Stephen Morris, Golf Committee member for the Open. "Knowing that the proceeds will help over 1500 families attend summer camps, autistic family days, LiveStrong Cancer survivor programs and more - just makes it that more special."
