Irish Social Club Officers to be Installed in Saturday Ceremony

The Club has been saved - and the Club will be holding regular events.

 

The new regime of the will take over officially on Saturday night after an officers' installation ceremony.

The Club held elections on October 28, with the following results:

Mary Maloney was elected president. Seven trustees were chosen: Mike Walsh, Seamus Mannion, Mary O’Donnell, Pat (Doc) Walsh, Kay Murphy, John Davenport, and Joan Kelleher.

Kathleen Adams was chosen as vice president, Thomas Maloney as second vice president, Recording Secretary Irene Daly, Financial Secretary Kenneth Daly, Treasurer Kay Hayes, Sergeant-at-Arms Richard Gormley and Sentinel Mary Tannian. There was no nominee for corresponding secretary. However, the incoming President Mary Maloney, can appoint a member to fill that vacancy after the installation.

On Saturday, November 19, there will be a Mass at the Club for deceased members at 7 p.m. and the Installation of Officers will be at 9 p.m. There will be a bar and dancing before and after the Installation, and music by the Dennis Curtin band. There is no door charge and non-members are welcome that evening.

Outgoing President Andrew J. Sheehan, wrote in the Club's Novemeber bulletin newsletter, "I wish to thank all of the nominees for their willingness to serve the Club for the following year and also the Election Committee which consisted of Frank Coppinger, Chairmen, Pat Casey, Assistant, and the Tellers, Kathleen Sullivan, Cathy Coppinger, Josie Casey and Richard Archer for the fine job they did."

Starting Sun., Dec. 4, the Club will begin having regular Sunday socials again at 8 p.m., at which non-members are welcome to attend. The Dave Healy Band will be play.           

Pursuant to the bylaws, the Board of Trustees decided to increase the annual dues from $5 to $10, effective immediately.

The bulletin outlined that the new president and officers would like to see the formation of some committees, including suggested committees to date: Building and Grounds, Hospitality, Bylaws, Special Events, Finance, Travel, Website, and Housekeeping (cleaning hall).

Sheehan also asked in the bulleting, "If any members could bring in Irish bread, pastries, etc., for our Installation, it would be very much appreciated."

Added Sheehan, "This is the last Bulletin over my signature as President and, again, I thank you most sincerely for your kind help and support over the last 30 years. My very best wishes to you all!!
