This year’s awards bring the total of recipients of more than 200 since the program began 20 years ago. This year’s recipients included students from South Boston, Dorchester, South End, West Roxbury, and Hyde Park, and were selected by a committee of experienced educators. Mt. Washington Bank has a West Roxbury branch at 1981-1985 Centre St.

For students attending a tuition-based high school, each award was $500, while for those attending a college/university each award was $1,000, according to a press release. Besides the money, and a certificate from the bank, each student received a Boston City Council resolution of commendation.
