5 Things: Rock On Tonight for AgeWell West Roxbury at Irish Social Club

Learn about growing vegetables in your backyard with Roger Swain, former host of "The Victory Garden" on PBS, at the Theodore Parker Church on Saturday.

 

  1. This morning, West Roxbury's District Councilor Matt O'Malley is holding office hours at 8 a.m. at Starbucks. Stop by, say hello, and tell him what's going on in your neighborhood.
  2. Tonight is West Roxbury Rocks! - a fundraiser for AgeWell West Roxbury. Live music, food, Irish step dancing performance, dancing, raffles, and a silent auction. Tickets here $35. Irish Social Club. 6:30-11 p.m.
  3. On Saturday, New Brook Farm is hosting Roger Swain, known as "the man with the red suspenders" and is famous for hosting the television show, "The Victory Garden" on PBS from mid 1980s until 2001. Tickets $10 to benefit New Brook Farm and can be purchased at the door. Theodore Parker Church. 10:30 a.m.
  4. On Saturday is Boston Shines and the annual Bellevue Hill Improvement Association Spring Clean-up. Volunteer to clean up trash, light debris only (no heavy lifting) within the Bellevue Hill section of Stony Brook Reservation. T-shirts, work gloves, and trash bags will be provided. Please wear proper attire and bring your own water/refreshments. Check-in at the path leading to the Water Tower, intersection of Bellevue Hill Rd and Bellevue St. Everyone welcome (including pets!). Volunteers can work anytime between 9 a.m. to noon. Community service letters are available upon request.
