  1. The West Roxbury YMCA is offering a that addresses the college essay process, the application process including the common application. Please contact Becky Peluso West Roxbury YMCA Teen Director 857-547-1332 or rpeluso@­ymcaboston.­org. The college prep class started on Sept. 29 and goes through Nov. 3. Still contact if you missed Sept. 29. 
  2. On Thursday night, Boston Public Schools will hold a public meeting about the five school choice plans they proposed last week to answer questions and to discuss the plan. Ohrenberger School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
  3. Boston Poet Laureate Sam Cornish is hosting a five-week poetry workshop open to all, free of charge. These workshops are held from 3 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Copley BPL. Space is limited, call 617-859-2339 to register. 
  4. Fabutique and Top It Off are collecting coats during October to be donated to the Rosie's Place shelter program. Drop off coats at either store on Spring Street.
  5. Every public school day there is a Homework Assistance Program at the West Roxbury Library for students of all schools. 3:30-5:30 p.m. Free.
