Connolly's Brother Says Support Has Been Strong in Hometown of West Roxbury

Connolly's brother Justin greeted West Roxbury voters all day.

While Mayoral Candidate John Connolly spent Tuesday, making stops all around Boston, it was his brother, Justin, who spent the entire day in West Roxbury.

Justin spent Tuesday  in front of one of the most popular polling location, the Holy Name Parish School, greeting voters and their families.

By 5:00 p.m. Precinct 6 at the school, already had over 750 votes cast.

“We’ve seen a strong response,” the Mayoral candidate’s brother said. “It’s been strong and consistent all day.”

Justin said many of the West Roxbury voters know Connolly or have met him at least once.

“It’s just been positive all day,” Justin said.   “He has a strong hold on West Roxbury.”

Michael Boulger, a West Roxbury voter, said he remembers growing up with Connolly and said he had always been a caring person.

“I went to school with John at the Holy Name Parish School,” Boulger said.  “He always helped everyone else.  He enjoyed helping classmates.”

Marilyn Shea, another West Roxbury voter describes Connolly as a neighbor and friend and someone who will go out of his way for others.

“John Connolly helped my family out when he was a brand new city councilor and I didn’t know who he was,” she said.    “I called upon him and he didn’t know the answers to my questions but he got the answer and we were all set in two days.  That’s the kind of things John does for everyone.”

Although the majority of West Roxbury voters approached by Patch on Tuesday said they voted for Connolly, there was still a strong number of Marty Walsh posters around town, including a few creative ones.  A Boston Fire engine with Walsh posters attached to it drove down Centre Street and a Jeep Wrangler painted with the name, Marty Walsh parked at the traffic circle all day.
