District 6 Candidates Ask For West Roxbury’s Vote

City Council candidates give last message to West Roxbury voters.

District 6 Boston City Councilor Matt O'Malley and challenger Luis Valerio explained why West Roxbury residents should vote for them on Tuesday.

 Matt O'Malley:

“In the last three years that I have been on the Council, I built a record results of delivering for West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain and all throughout District 6. We secured funding for a new library in Jamaica Plain, for millions of dollars worth of improvement at Millennium Park.  I’ve been accessible, I’ve been accountable."

I would say if this was a hiring decision, and I would take this election as my bi-annual review from my bosses , which are the people of District 6,  I would say I have a record of delivering for my constituents in building for our future.”

Luis Valerio:

“I’m their neighbor.  One of the main problems that West Roxbury has is the Boston Public Schools.  I know the struggle that many parents have when they try to enroll their kids because I’ve been there. I’m going to fight for better schools for our kids "

The other issue I’m going to focus on is our seniors.  We have 35 percent of our population that is more than 60 years old.  My proposal is to have special programs for seniors.”
