There Will Be 3 Televised Boston Mayoral Debates

Three televised mayoral debates, as well as local forums, will allow residents to get to know the two candidates.

Boston's mayoral candidates, City Councilor John Connolly and state Rep. Marth Walsh have agreed to three televised debates.

There will be a debate on each during the weeks of October 14, 21, and 28. A press release did not provide the format, hosts, hosting channels, or any other details of the debates.

The two campaigns put out a joint statement released by Connolly's campaign that asked local forums and associations to work around the televised debates.

"After discussions between our campaigns, we agree that televised debates will provide an important forum for voters to gain the information they need to make an informed decision in November’s mayoral election. In addition, we believe that these debates would offer a broader platform for the many community groups wishing to have their substantive issues discussed during the campaign," said the statement. "We ask that community groups wishing to organize forums or discussions cooperate with media organizations to make sure these are substantive debates."
