Residents Continue to Vote in West Roxbury

Updates and information about the mayor's race in Boston.

As of 5 p.m. over 750 votes were cast at Precinct 19 and over 450 were cast at Precinct 6 and numbers were increasing.

Voters continuously made their way in the Holy Name Parish school to vote.

Justin Connolly, brother of mayoral candidate, John said the voter turnout had been strong all day with the exception of 1-3 p.m. where he notice a down time.

There were a little over 350 votes cast at both Precincts 3 and 15 at the  Ludwig Beethoven Elementary School just after 12 p.m.

Carl Johnson, Warden for Precinct 3 said the turnout is much better than September's preliminary election.

At the Holy Name elementary school, Election Warden Joseph Harzbecker said the turnout is much heavier than usual.  He said 61 residents voted within the first hour in Precinct 19.

Turnout has been steady for many of the West Roxbury polling places:

Pct 3/Ward 20: 350 votes cast through 12 p.m.
Pct 6/Ward 20: 550 votes cast through 12:30 p.m.
Pct 8/Ward 20: 260 votes cast through 1 p.m.
Pct 15/Ward 20: 350 votes cast through 12 p.m.
Pct19/Ward 20: 326 votes cast through 12:30 p.m.

The polls are open across Boston as the city votes for a new mayor and city council seats.
