8th Annual Films at the Gate
Asian Community Development Corporation hosts its 8th Annual Films at the Gate, which
takes place Friday through Sunday, September 13-15, 2013 in Chinatown Park. The film festival begins each evening at 7 pm with martial arts and other cultural performances followed by the feature film at 8 pm. Up to 1000 people pass through the entire course of the event. Please do join us!
The film festival line-up:
Friday, September 13 is Mismatched Couple. Staring Donnie Yen, Yuen Woo Ping, May Lo, Wong Wan Si, Dick Wei, Brandy Yuen, and Anna Kamiyama. A 1980s film about Donnie Yen’s character that shows off his top-notch martial arts skills mixing break dancing with kung fu to impress a girl.

Saturday, September 14 is Heroes of the East staring Gordon Liu, Kurata Yasuaki, and Yuka Mizumo. The film is in Mandarin with English subtitles, and fight choreography is directed by Lau Kar Leung. This is a classic Shaw Brothers’ film featuring a duel between a husband and wife over Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu and Japanese Ninja Karate.
Sunday, September 15 is White Dragon. It is a comedy about a spoiled Hong Kong teen who must save her price with newly acquired magic kung fu powers. Staring Cecilia Cheung, Francis Ng, Andy On, Lei Liu, and Xiao Lung Ding. Fight choreography done by Wilson Yip and shown in Cantonese with English subtitles.
