Parkway Running Club Raising Money for Martin Richard Foundation

The West Roxbury running club has set up a "Friends of the MR8 Foundation" page to raise funds.

The West Roxbury-based Parkway Running Club is seeking support to help the family of Martin Richard as part of this year's Boston Marathon.

Richard, 8, of Dorchester, died in the Boston Marathon bombings last April. His sister, Jane, lost a leg in the attack and his mother, Denise, also suffered serious injuries. The Martin W. Richard Charitable Foundation (Team MR8) was subsequently established to invest in education, athletics and community. The family have also posted regular updates on a Tumblr blog at richardfamilyboston.tumblr.com.

"We thought that as a running club in Boston, we should help out the MR8 Foundation as well," a PRC spokesperson wrote in a statement on Facebook. "There are a lot of people from the PRC running for various worth charities, and I encourage you to supper those runners and causes."
