Bike Shared Lane Coming to Belgrade and Beech Streets in West Roxbury

The bike lane will connect to the existing bike lanes on Belgrade Avenue that currently end at the West Roxbury Parkway.

City workers are expected to install bike lane markings this weekend during nighttime construction.

Led by Boston Bikes, bike shared lane markings will be added on Beech and Belgrade streets between the West Roxbury Parkway and Centre Street. The new lane is just .2-miles long, but will connect West Roxbury to the bike lane on Belgrade Avenue that goes into Roslindale Village.

"These bike lanes will connect to the existing bike lanes on Belgrade that currently end at West Roxbury Parkway. A goal of the bike network is to ensure continuous routes without gaps for cyclists. This project will fill the gap and make these roads as safe as possible, for all users, by adding markings," wrote Nicole Freedman, director of Boston Bikes, in a statement.

The project will not remove any parking.
