Bike Lanes on The Parkway? $&/@!!!!

So now we are going to put bike lanes on the VFW Parkway between Spring and Centre Sts. Outstanding! Because really, the road is simply not congested enough during rush hour. What's that you say? If more of us rode bikes, there would be less congestion? Yes, take a left on Baker. Brook Farm is 200 yards up on your left, where you will find your Utopia.
I have lived two houses in from the Parkway for 25 years and can say with no uncertainty that this is a very unwise endeavor, due in no small part to traffic flowing out of side streets onto the Parkway. I have witnessed countless near misses, and not so near misses when cars fail to heed the stop lines before making their turns. Some of these have involved pedestrians and joggers approaching the crosswalk.
One could make the argument that the State Police will have to amp up there patrols, but that would  imply they are actually patrolling. Most of them are too busy having coffee at Seaport. They don't even bother keeping commercial vehicles off of a road they are not supposed to travel. That might help reduce the traffic volume.
Someone commenting on the page on which the article was posted suggested they convert the sidewalk into a combination pedestrian/bike path. Oh yeah, that will work well. First biker I see coming at me is going to hit me or an Oak tree. Those trees don't move.Check the scars on the trunks? Those are from vehicles. Helmets and Spandex will fare far worse, I suspect.
I am not anti bicycle.  I am anti death and dismemberment, however. This is a recipe for disaster. Good Luck and be ready for oncoming traffic. Hope it's not you I have to dial 911 for; I have done that enough.
