A Fashion Show Fundraiser for Rosie's Place; and a Hooray for Hollywood Boston Pops Concert

The rain has passed - hopefully, so Get Out there and go to a Boston Pops concert, try your hand at a cooking demo, or one of other suggestions for you.

On Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m., Jamie Bissonnette, Executive Chef at Toro as well as Coppa Enoteca, and the winner of Food & Wine's 2011 People's Best New Chef Award will be at for a Cooking Demo. He was recently featured in the new cookbook, Primal Cuts: Cooking with America's Best Butchers. The book will be available for sale and signing.

On Thursday, May 26 and Saturday May 28 at 8 p.m. at the Boston Pops Laureate Conductor, John Williams, the brilliant composer and conductor behind films including Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the Harry Potter series, brings you a night of some of the most memorable movie music and film clips of all time with special emphasis on the villains and heroes we’ve all grown to love. The concert also features the world premiere of Williams’ Concerto for Oboe, written for Pops principal oboist Keisuke Wakao.

On Sunday, May 29, from 3:30-5 p.m. the , located at 25 Charles St., in Boston’s fashionable Beacon Hill, will host “Sparkle IV” an event billed as “…an afternoon of fashion, food & fun.”  The event will bring together ladies from around Greater Boston and beyond to sip cocktails, enjoy light fare and finger foods and view the latest fashions with an afternoon charity fashion show to benefit Rosie’s Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women.

The all-inclusive $25 admission price is not only your front row seat to the afternoon fashion show, set in communal seating to encourage gab and gossip, but also includes: gourmet hors d'oeuvres, (1) glass of champagne provided by Nicolas Feuillatte (full cash bar also available), an exclusive “Sparkle IV” discount giving attendees 15-20 percent off at all participating vendors including Core De Vie, Bobbles & Lace and M Flynn, a complimentary gift bag filled with goodies galore, and entry into several afternoon raffles. A percent of proceeds from the event will go directly to Rosie’s Place.

On Saturday, May 28 at 11 a.m., travel on a live musical tour through time, from the roots of jazz in blues and spirituals through the Great American Songbook right up to the many sounds of jazz today, with excursions into other music traditions at home and abroad along the way at the . Come move mind and body with guides Arni Cheatham (saxophones), Bill Lowe (bass trombone, tuba, percussion), and Kevin Harris (keyboards) as they use jazz standards and originals to bridge the gap between generations.

On Sunday, May 29 you can head to for trivia at 8 p.m. Up to six people per team.  Prizes vary from gift certificates, to T-shirts, to Red Sox tickets, or anything else the restaurant can think of.
