A Weekend of Music, Drama and Beer

There is plenty to do around the area. Take your pick.

The Oasis Music Cafe at the Education & Community Center in Brookline presents Aires de Argentina, a free concert of music from around the world tonight, Thursday, Sept. 29, 7:30 p.m., at the Education & Community Center at the . The group is composed of Berklee musicians: Echae Kang (violin, Korea), Juana Aqeurreta (vocal, Argentina), Mathias Minquet (guitar, France), Luis Lascano (bass, Argentina), Patrick Simard (drums, Canada) and I-Yun Chung (piano, Taiwan).

Enjoy Tom Stoppard’s comedic play, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1, 8 p.m. at the footlight Club in Jamaica Plain.

The classic tale of Shakespeare’s Hamlet is told from the point of view of the courtiers Rosencrantz (played by Scot Colford) and Guildenstern (played by Evan Bernstein).

 ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ in Hyde Park

Riverside Theatre Works presents one of Tennessee Williams’ best-known plays, "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof," Friday, Sept. 30, 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 1, 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 2, 2 p.m. The play is directed by Jeff Kubiatowicz.

Set in the Deep South in the 1950s, the play begins as a plantation owner celebrates what he thinks is his cure from cancer on his 65th birthday. This sultry drama explores a family's internal battle to look truthfully at its own past as shocking secrets are revealed that inform the future.

The 2nd annual Brew at the Zoo is Saturday, Oct. 1, 5 to 9 p.m. at Franklin Park Zoo. Brew at the Zoo is a “beer tasting” event that features stations hosted by local breweries as well as an opportunity to stroll among the animals. There will also be musical entertainment.

Boston Duck Tours provides free transportation to Franklin Park Zoo from the Forest Hills T stop from 5 to 7 p.m., and free transportation from the zoo back to Forest Hills T stop from 7 to 9 p.m. This is a 21 plus event. All guests must have a valid ID.

The Guitar Circle New England presents a unique concert at its Guitar Circle Sundays series at in Jamaica Plain, Oct 2, 7:30 p.m. The audience is invited to make itself comfortable and relaxed in the center of a circle of seven musicians. This free performances is about 40 minutes. Enjoy complimentary tea or coffee.
