Letter: Thank you from the Save the Irish Social Club Committee

To the editor:

On behalf of the committee to ‘Save the Irish Social Club” I want to express my sincere appreciation for the fantastic job, the publicity given our project to raise funds to "Save the Irish Social Club" from closing.

We had a . We were amazed at the number of people and children who came to the event. It was a fun day especially for the children.

It is very difficult to thank all the people who helped out; however, maybe through the help of the West Roxbury Patch we may at least reach a number of those who attended the event, the volunteers, the bands, the publicity given by both the media such as the Irish Emigrant, the West Roxbury Transcript, the Bulletin, radio station WROL -  950 am, The Roscommon Club, The Knights and Ladies of St. Finbarr (Cork Club) and other Irish clubs, the local merchants who sold tickets, supermarkets and the many people and businesses that donated to the cause. We applaud the many volunteers who worked long hours to make this event successful.

Even though there are a number of bills to be paid now and in the coming months and late donations to be recorded, I think it’s safe to say that enough money was generated to make many if not all the repairs necessary to make the Irish Social Club the number one club in New England. The new air conditioners will be installed shortly and a new fire alarm system installed.

Hopefully, the necessary licenses will be obtained in the near future so that a regular schedule of events can be started by the spring.

We thank everyone who participated for their fantastic help in making a dream come through.
