The Boston Fire Department responded to the VA Hospital on the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury Friday afternoon after a car drove into the building's mechanical room.

The driver of the vehicle was reportedly an elderly male, who was taken to the VA Emergency Room to be checked out. Earlier reports indicated the vehicle crashed into the building's emergency room, but Boston Fire officials clarified that it was in fact the building's mechanical room.

Crews on scene reported that it did not appear the accident resulted in any serious structural damage, and crews plan to remain on scene with Engine 30, Ladder 25 to speak with a building inspector. All other crews cleared the scene as of 1 p.m. Friday, officials said

West Roxbury Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.
