Centre Street Nursing Home Evacuated
CO meters worn by EMS detected high levels of the gas.
Police, firefighters and EMS personnel have evacuated a nursing home at 2220 Centre Street after a carbon monoxide detector showed a high reading of the poisonous gas. Boston Fire reported 57 residents were moved, according to photojournalist and public safety Twitter user Stephen Walsh. Deutsches Altenheim German Centre for Extended Care is at that address.
According to Boston EMS, one of their units responded to the nursing home to assist with a resident who fell. That unit was outfitted with portable CO dectectors on Monday.
"When A5 arrived on scene and entered the facility, their CO detector indicated elevated carbon monoxide readings," wrote Boston EMS on their Facebook page.
