Dorchester Man Turns Self In for Gun Assault, Kidnapping on Weld Street

A Dorchester man turned himself in after allegedly terrorizing the occupants of a Weld Street home with a gun, and kidnapping one victim.

On Aug. 2, Leon Jones, of 79 Lyons St., Dorchester, was arrested and charged with one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery, and was later charged with armed assault in a dwelling and kidnapping, according to a Boston Police report.

Police were called to 127 Weld St., in West Roxbury, around 7:22 p.m. were called for a shirtless man with a gun. After the home was secured police spoke with the victims in the home who stated the suspect used a silver gun and "began terrorizing all occupants of the home" by pointing it at them and head-butted a victim. The suspect who knew the victim allegedly hit that victim and brought her to an upstairs bedroom. That victim was also allegedly kidnapped by the suspect and taken in his silver Cadillac, according to a Boston Police report.

Another victim tried to call 911 but was thwarted by the suspect, although the victim was able to escape barefooted and tell police about the alleged gun assault and kidnapping. 

The sexual assault unit was notified.

The suspect later turned himself into District B-2.
