Fallen Firefighter's Wedding Ring Found in Rubble, Returned to Widow

Firefighters found Lt. Ed Walsh's wedding ring after hours of searching, according to the Boston Globe.

As he battled one of the biggest fires in Boston's history, Lt. Ed Walsh's wedding ring slipped off.

The nine-alarm inferno in Back Bay Wednesday claimed the life of Walsh, 43, the father of three children.

Firefighters on Tuesday found the ring in the rubble after hours of searching, according to the Boston Globe. They gave it to his wife, Kristen.

Walsh, of West Roxbury, served on Engine Company 33. Also killed in the blaze was firefighter Michael Kennedy, who served on Ladder Company 15.

“All the guys on (Engine Company) 33 and  (Ladder Company) 15 said they were sure Eddie had the ring on his finger when he went into that burning building,” Richie Paris, a firefighter union official, told the Globe. “Eddie never took his wedding ring off.”
