Gas Company Hit Main Line on Westgate Road in Chestnut Hill

Avoid the Westgate Road area as crews tend to mainline break that occurred today at 1:30 p.m. No one was injured.

 

No one was injured after a gas company struck a mainline on Westgate Road in the Chestnut Hill area around 1:30 p.m. today.

National Grid was on the scene working, and personel struck the main line. The Newton Fire Department was first on scene, said Boston Fire Department Spokesperson Steve MacDonald. BFD had an engine and ladder truck at the scene as of 2:15 p.m.

MacDonald suggested avoiding the Westgate Road area in Chestnut Hill. There is also a Westgate Road area within two miles in Newton.
