Holy Name Parish to Host Vigil Service for Firefighters Friday Night

The service will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Centre Street church.

Officials with Holy Name Parish in West Roxbury have announced that a vigil service has been planned for Friday, March 28 at in honor of fallen firefighters Lt. Edward J. Walsh and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy.

The vigil is meant to provide area residents to come together in prayer and support for the family and friends of the two firefighters who were killed in action while responding to a massive fire in Back Bay on Wednesday. The service will begin at 7 p.m. at the church, located at 1689 Centre St.

No audio recording or cameras are permitted inside the church for the service, officials announced.

Prior to the vigil service, ParkwayPeople.org has organized a candlelight vigil in West Roxbury to honor the two Boston firefighters. The candlelight vigil will begin at 6:30 p.m. in front of the West Roxbury fire station.
