Home Depot Bandit Escapes by Driving at Cop in West Roxbury Lot

The following article is based on a Boston Police report.

A shoplifting suspect who has hit several Home Depots was able to flee from Boston Police from the hardware giant's West Roxbury store after allegedly driving his car at a cop.

On Aug. 2 around 3:12 p.m. police were called to the Home Depot at 1213 VFW Parkway, where a store asset protection specialist said a repeat shoplifting suspect from several Home Depot locations in the past weeks was inside the Parkway locale.

The suspect's m.o. was to load up on goods without making a payment and then get away in a motor vehicle, said the Home Depot employee to police, according to a Boston Police report.

As officers were speaking to the employee, the suspect was seen sprinting from the store towards his vehicle. Officers gave the suspect to remove himself from the car, but he allegedly turned the engine on, drove at a cop, who had to dodge to get out of the way from being struck, and then fled onto the VFW Parkway.

A description of the suspect was broadcast to city and state police. A criminal complaint was to be filed against the suspect for failure to stop for a police officer, assault by means of a dangerous weapon (a car), operating a motor vehicle after a revoked license, negligent operation, and speed greater than reasonable and proper.
