Mandated By Law, West Roxbury Man Arrested Due to 209A

Boston Police presented a hard copy of the of Assault and Battery 209A Abuse Law to a West Roxbury woman to explain why her husband was being arrested, even though she did not want him to be.

On Oct. 27 around 10:55 a.m., Victor Zhao Sun, of 278 Independence Drive, West Roxbury, was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Police were called to a residence for a domestic disturbance. The wife told police she and her husband had an argument and during their argument the husband allegledy grabbed the wife on the wrist, which police noted was red, according to a Boston Police report.

The husband left after the argument to get some diapers and to the bank. When he got back to the home he was met by police after being pointed out by his wife. He gave the diapers and money to his wife. 

The man told police he had grabbed his wife's wrist to get her out of the way. Officers informed him he was being arrested for assault and battery due to the 209A law. He complied with the officers.

Officers went back into the home and explained to the wife that her husband was being arrested due to the law that mandates he be arrested for his physical actions. She told police she didn't want her husband arrested, but she understood why.
