Mother Commends Boston Police in West Roxbury for Saving Son's Life

Police rescued a child from the waters of Millennium Park in late April.

A local mother has commended officers from the Boston Police Department for their efforts in helping her find her son at Millennium Park in West Roxbury last month. 

The incident occurred on Monday, April 21. A mother, Sarah White, and her 10-year-old son Taylor, who has autism, spent the day at Millennium Park.

At they attempted to leave the park, Taylor reportedly took off running. White was unable to catch her son, and immediately called 911, Boston Police said

Officers from the Boston Police Department's West Roxbury E-5 District responded to the area and were able to help retrieve Taylor, who at the time was found knee-to-thigh deep in muddy waters at the park. 

White, in a letter to Boston Police Commissioner William Evans commending the officers who helped her, explained to police that children with autism are drawn to the water.
