Murder of West Roxbury Man in Prison Under Investigation; No Charges Yet

Alexander Callahan, 25, was killed on Sunday at the South Bay House of Correction in altercation with another inmate.

 

The Sunday death of a West Roxbury man who was a prisoner at the South Bay House of Correction is being investigated.

"(Alexander Callahan) was from West Roxbury. His death is under investigation by Suffolk (County District Attorney) prosecutors and Boston Police. No charges have been brought as of (Dec. 5)," said Jake Wark, spokesperson for the Suffolk County District Attorney's office to Patch.

Alexander Callahan, 25, was killed in an altercation with another convict while in prison.

Callahan was serving time for cocaine possession from charges in June that Patch wrote about, as well as assault and battery.

According to the Boston Herald, Callahan had a lengthy rap sheet including 14 convictions for drug, assault and weapon charges. There were another nine charges still pending, out of a total 40 drug, robbery, assault and weapon charges filed against him since 2004.
