Official Cause, Manner of Death for 2 Boston Firefighters Revealed

The state’s chief medical examiner has ruled that both Boston firefighter Michael Kennedy and Lt. Ed Walsh died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries while battling a nine-alarm blaze in Boston’s Back Bay in late March, according to NECN.
The manner of their deaths was determined to be an accident, according to the report.
This past Sunday, the Boston Fire Department honored the fallen firefighters at cemeteries in Jamaica Plain and Dorchester.

The owners of the now destroyed brownstone at 298 Beacon St. have filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the owners of the neighboring brownstone, at 296 Beacon St., and the Malden welding company, which allegedly sparked the blaze. The owner of the welding company has denied any blame.
Kennedy and Walsh were West Roxbury natives.

A Marine Corps veteran, Kennedy, 33, lived in Hyde Park. Walsh, 43, of West Roxbury, left behind a wife and three children, all under 10.
