Passing Motorist Tells Cops of Alleged Drunk Driver on VFW Parkway, Who Hits Cruiser

The following article is based on a Boston Police report and where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A passing motorist on the VFW Parkway was able to notify a Boston Police officer of another vehicle that was driving erratically and was going to cause an accident.

On Aug. 24 around 10:50 p.m., Natassia Prakharenka, of 28 Westgate Road #3, Chestnut Hill, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Boston Police report.

After being notified by the passing motorist, the officer pulled his cruiser behind the vehicle in question as it passed across the intersection of the VFW Parkway and Spring Street, according to a police report. The vehicle was allegedly weaving back and forth crossing over marked lanes then slowing up, speeding up and accelerating in a jerking motion.

It took a while for the vehicle to pull over after sirens were activated. As the officer exited his cruiser the other motor vehicle's break lights went on and the vehicle went backwards and hit the front of the cruiser. The officer asked the driver to put the vehicle in park.

The officer allegedly detected a strong odor of alcohol from the driver's side window. The driver allegedly spoke with slurred speech, who said she hadn't been drinking, but then said she had one or two beers.

When asked to get out of the car, the suspect allegedly staggered and had to hold onto the roof to stop from falling.

The suspect allegedly failed more than one field sobriety tests, according to a Boston Police report.
