Officer Chases Suspects Through West Roxbury Backyards, Nabs One

During the middle of the night, a Boston Police officer chased two suspects through West Roxbury backyards, eventually catching one.

On Nov. 7 around 2:23 a.m., Robert Joseph Whitehouse, listed as homeless, was arrested and charged with attempted breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property or concealing stolen goods.

An officer on patrol noticed two males pulling on car doors near 119 Stimson Street, and opening at least one door. The officer radioed other units for backup, and said the suspects had not seen him yet, according to a Boston Police report.

While other units converged, the officer radioed that he was in foot pursuit of the two suspects, chasing both of them through many backyards. The suspects jumped several fences, said the officer. The suspect, Whitehouse, was apprehended by the officer in front of 2606 Centre Street.

Another officer saw the second suspect running down Pleasantdale Street, disappearing on that road. A K-9 unit was brought in quickly, but could not locate the suspect.

Officers searched the suspects' path and found a GPS unit in the backyard of a Bryant Avenue home.
