POLICE: Shooting Suspect Connected to Roslindale Homicide

The man a Boston police officer shot and killed Tuesday was inside the house on Canterbury St. in Roslindale when four people were shot outside early Sunday morning on Aug. 12.

The when he pulled a gun during a traffic stop on Dartmouth Street may have been involved in the quadruple shooting last week in Roslindale.

"That's certainly something we're investigating," said Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis today during a press conference.

Police have not released the name of the suspect who was shot, but .

Police pulled Ramsey over around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday night, they said. That's when Ramsey pulled out a gun and began to flee, refusing to put down the weapon, police said.

Ramsey ran down Dartmouth Street towards Columbus Street, police said. Two officers pursued him and one of them fired a shot, which hit him in the chest, killing him. He was later declared dead at Boston Medical Center.

"The suspect was present in the house on [784] Canterbury St. last weekend during the murder that occurred outside," Davis said during the press conference.

In that 3 a.m. Roslindale shooting on Aug. 12, a 30-year-old man was killed and three other men injured. There have been no arrests and it remains unsolved, he said.

Police are also investigating the suspect's connection to the car he was driving: a silver Cadillac owned by Jurrell James Laronal, 26, of Dorcherster who was arrested Saturday on Maxwell Street and charged with possession of heroine.

Davis said police will not confirm why Ramsey was pulled over until tomorrow, after the officers on the scene have been interviewed.

They have been treated for stress related issues, and are on paid administrative leave. The officer who shot Ramsey has been on the police force for five years.

"We operate under the proven fact that a small number of people are responsible for a large number of crimes that occur in the city of Boston," Davis said. "We often times find things to several different incidences. Due to the scrutiny of this particular case we're uncovering things as we go along."

He asks that anyone with information about the Dartmouth Street shooting come forward. In particular, detectives are looking for a woman who encountered Ramsey during the pursuit, and may have come in physical contact with him.

"We ask that she contact the homicide unit," Davis said.
