Police: VFW Parkway Shut Down After Police Officer Injured in Crash

The officer was trying to respond to a West Roxbury incident when he got into the accident at VFW and LaGrange.

A Boston Police officer was injured in a car crash at Lagrange Street and VFW Parkway Monday morning, according to the Boston Police Department. Public safety officials are shutting down the roadway as they respond to the scene.

The accident occured at 10:18 a.m., while the officer was en route to an incident in West Roxbury. The involved officer was transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital, according to police. There is not yet word on his condition. 

Universal Hub reported that a second person was injured at the scene of the crash, and that two ambulances were called to the area.

The officer may have been on the way to help an off-duty officer, who had detained two men that allegedly pulled a weapon on him near the corner of the Parkway and Gardner Street, according to Universal Hub.

UPDATE, 11:30 a.m.: A witness said the crash came int he wake of a long line of responding police cars.
