Suspect Rams Off-Duty Cop's Car in Roslindale, Flees to West Roxbury Police Station

A Roslindale man allegedly hit-and-ran from a motor vehicle accident in Roslindale with an off-duty Boston Police detective, only to flee to the District E-5 Police Station in West Roxbury. The detective tailed the suspect in his own Honda Accord to the station, where the suspect rammed the vehicle before officers came out of the station to arrest the man.

On Feb. 18 around 8:50 p.m., Kory A. Stanbury, of 65 Knoll St., Roslindale, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, driving to endanger, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a motor vehicle.

The detective had just finished working a police detail at American Legion and Cummins highways in Roslindale. He was headed toward Canterbury Street down American Legion when he was struck by the suspect's 1996 Toyota T100 pickup on the left quarter of the Honda. As the detective pulled over to exchange papers, the suspect allegedly ran up to the suspect's window "violently banging on my window, screaming for me to get out while attempting to yank my driver door open" according to a Boston Police report. The detective radioed for assistance, and the suspect ran back to his vehicle, and then took off down American Legion Highway towards Roslindale Village. The suspect allegedly drove through red lights on South and Centre streets. 

The suspect then pulled into the District E-5 Police Station in West Roxbury at 1708 Centre St., with the detective pulling in right behind him, while requesting for backup from the station. While waiting for officers to come out, the suspect then put his vehicle into reverse and rammed the detective's Honda, damaging the front bumper and hood, according to a Boston Police report. 

The suspect went behind the station where he was placed under arrest and was trying to physically assault the detective while allegedly yelling, "You're a [expletive] cop! You're a [expletive] cop!" The suspect had to be restrained by officers.
