Update: Driver Didn't See Police Cruiser Until Too Late

The driver of the car involved with a flashing-lights Boston Police cruiser on Monday, told police she did not see the cop car until too late, striking the driver's side.

The officer driving the cruiser was removed and transferred via ambulance to Brigham & Womens Hospital, according to a Boston Police report. Police sources confirmed on Friday that the officer is OK.

A witness said she heard a loud bang after seeing a long line of police cruisers. 

Police spoke with the female driver of the civilian vehicle shortly after the accident around 10:26 a.m. at the intersection of VFW Parkway and Lagrange Street. The driver said she was traveling outbound on Lagrange Street towards the VFW Parkway, and saw a truck stopped in front of her waiting to take a left onto the VFW Parkway. She said she proceded to pass the truck on the right to continue straight across Lagrange Street. At that point, she saw the police vehicle outbound on the VFW Parkway towards Dedham, with its emergency lights flashing in front of her - but she was unable to stop, and struck the driver's side front tire area. 

The woman's 4-year-old passenger was restrained in the backseat in a toddler car seat. The parents of the toddler responded to the scene and did not seek medical attention. The driver did not seek medical attention either, according to the police report.
