West Roxbury Couple Scammed by Fake Boston Water & Sewer Employees Out of 'Vacation Money'

A West Roxbury couple told Boston Police that thieves posing as "Boston Water and Sewer" personnel came into their home and stole more than $1000 of cash earmarked for a future vacation.

On Valentine's Day around 12:29 p.m., police met with the Corey Street couple who said they weren't sure how much was taken, but that they would put money in several envelopes from their pension checks. One envelope marked "vacation money" had more than $1000, according to a Boston Police report.

The couple remembered the only people in their home recently were two men who said they worked for the Boston Water and Sewer organization. Neither suspect showed any identification, nor was there an identifiable truck parked outside, and the suspects weren't wearing identifying clothing. 

One of the suspects went to the basement with one of the victims, while the other suspect said he'd stay in the kitchen to allegedly check the water pressure. The kitchen suspect disappeared for a while saying he was checking the bathroom and flushing the toilet. The victims said the suspects were in their home for about 45 minutes, and then left in an unknown direction.
