West Roxbury Woman Charged with Heroin Possession

The following article is based on a Boston Police report, and where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Undercover Boston Police charged a West Roxbury woman with possession of heroin as part of an ongoing investigation in Roslindale.

On Sept. 7 around 2:20 p.m., Candice Luciano, of 1515 VFW Parkway R36, West Roxbury, was arrested and charged with possession of a class A drug, heroin; and arrested Shawn D. Semler, of 4 Franklin St., Norwood, on an outstanding default warrant for larceny of more than $250 issued out of Boston District Court.

Undercover cops were conducting surveillance in the area of 4600 Washington St., in Roslindale, a known area for drug transactions, when police saw the two suspects standing in front of CVS.

An officer followed the suspects as they went to Burger King, where Semler allegedly made a phone call using a cell phone and allegedly overheard saying, "You going to meet us she is sick she is throwing up you have to meet us!" according to a Boston Police report.

Both suspects left Burger King and then returned buying one bottle of water and asking for one spoon, and then left and walked down Washington Street, stopping at the retaining wall at Edgemere Road in West Roxbury. Officers maintained surveillance of the suspects as they made phone calls and observed traffic. Then they walked down Edgemere Road towards an individual, who tossed an item on the ground. Then the female suspect allegedly picked up the tossed item, according to a police report. The name of the suspected dealer was not released due to an ongoing investigation.

Officers approached the two suspects with badges displayed and asked Luciano what she had picked up on the ground. She said nothing and tried to hide her hand but threw the item on the ground while an officer reached for her hand. The item was a folded lottery ticket with one plastic bag of a substance believed to be heroin. A threshold inquiry determined that Semler had an active warrant.
