Confusion of who was driving a vehicle involved in a two-vehicle accident on Cummins Highway may take some time to sort out. But what is for sure is that Boston Police arrested a West Roxbury man for allegedly driving one of the car's while under the influence of alcohol.
On Sept. 29 around 1:45 a.m., Ryan S. Hansen, of 35 Carrolton Road #2, West Roxbury, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Police found one operator of sitting in their car at the intersection of Cummins Highway and Florence Street. A man and woman were standing on the sidewalk.
The parties involved gave conflicting stories to the police. The driver in her car said the driver of the other vehicle fled on foot after the accident, according to a Boston Police report. When asked who was driving the car, the man said he was driving. Both vehicles had damage, but no one sought medical attention.
The man of the duo said that he was driving, but the duo gave conflicting stories about what happened. The duo's breath smelled like alcohol, seemed unsteady on their feet, and their eyes were glassy and bloodshot, according to police.
Police asked Hansen to take a field sobriety test, which he refused. And while the cuffs were being placed on him, Hansen allegedly said, "You did not see me driving. I was not driving."
