Retired teacher said she was walking in park when dogs cornered her and jumped on her.

While the discussion about having a , there continue to be problems with unleashed dogs.

On Sept. 30 a retired teacher walked into to report that around 7:20 a.m. on that day she was accosted by two unleashed large dogs. The woman said she was walking along Millennium Park's middle level on the south side, when an unknown woman was walking her two large dogs unleashed. The woman told police the two dogs cornered her into the fence, and one of the dogs jumped onto the woman.

The woman said she was not injured, but that she was very shaken up, and felt very unsafe at the time. The woman told police that the owner of the dog had no control over the dogs and offered no response about their behavior.

This doesn't surprise me at all. An unleashed dog jumped on me recently at Millennium and the owner seemed to find it funny. I know the dog owners seem to feel they have a right to ignore the leash laws, but whatever is decided about a dog park I feel strongly that the leash laws need to be enforced.

This is why there is a need for an off leash area at the park. That way dog owners could let their dogs run & play legitimately and ensure they are getting enough exercise. And it would allow other park users to decide whether they want to walk in an area where dogs are off leash or walk in the rest of the park. MP is certainly large enough for everyone to enjoy.

Rules are only as good as their enforcement. If there's no enforcement of leash laws, then why would anyone obey them? That's the only way this situation will improve. Consequences.

Designate a large enough area as "Off Leash". The park is certainly sizable enough to accomodate everyone's activities.

Either NO dogs at all .. or a fenced area for them

An off leash area is not the solution. People should feel safe in all areas of MP. There is a leash law in place for a reason. A fenced in dog park is the only option.
