Two Bridges Being Dedicated for Former West Roxbury Legislators on Saturday

The Bellevue Street bridge will be dedicated for former Rep. Charles Doyle; and the Park Street bridge will be dedicated for former Rep. Francis X. Coppinger.

 

Two bridges in West Roxbury will be dedicated in honor of two former state representatives on Saturday.

Former state Rep. Charles Doyle served in the House of Representatives from the early 1950s until the late 1970s. He passed away in 2009. The bridge going over Bellevue Street near Centre Street will be dedicated for Doyle.

Through his three decades of public service, Doyle crossed paths with former state Rep. Francis X. Coppinger, who still lives in West Roxbury. The bridge going over Park Street near Corey Street, will be dedicated in honor of Coppinger. Francis X. Coppinger is the father of current state Rep. Ed Coppinger, D-West Roxbury.

The bridges will be dedicated in a ceremony starting at the Bellevue Street bridge at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. State Sen. Mike Rush, D-Norfolk/Suffolk, Ed Coppinger, Mass Department of Transportation Secretary Richard Davey and members of the Doyle family are expected to attend.
