Democratic Candidates Dominate Sleepy Thursday Primary

Thursday's Primary will set up the big Massachusetts November matchup of Republican US Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren. Neither face an opponent in Thursday's primary.

There is one very congested primary on Thursday - the open seat to be District 2's Governor's Councilor, which represents West Roxbury, as well as many other communities. 

Republican candidate Earl H. Sholley has no opponent in the primary, and awaits the winner between a quartet of Democratic candidates: Hyde Park's , Hyde Park's , , and Bart Andrew Timilty.

State Sen. Mike Rush, D-Norfolk & Suffolk, is unopposed. As is state Rep. Ed Coppinger, D-Boston, in the 10th Suffolk District. 

The newly redistricted 8th Congressional District has a Republican race with squaring off against . Current Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, currently D-9th, has no primary opponent, and looks to see who will be his opponent come fall.

There are no Green-Rainbow candidates on the primary ballot, according to the City of Boston's Elections Department website.

But there are several Suffolk County elections, too, with only Democratic candidates. 

Maura Doyle is the lone option as the Clerk for the Supreme Judicial Court. Michael Joseph Donovan is facing Michael Dash to be the Clerk of the Superior Court (Civil Business). 

Former Boston City Councilor Maura Hennigan and current Clerk of Supreme Court (Criminal Business) has a primary opponent with Robert J. Dello Russo Sr. 

Mickey Roache is the lone candidate for Register of Deeds.

Also, District 1 Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina, will face Patricia Patty Campatelli to fill the vacant Register of Probate vacancy.
