Election Day Update: Early West Roxbury Vote Totals

The sun was shining and voters were slowly trickling into voting spots.

Candidates signs were affixed to the Holy Name School parking lot greeting voters on Tuesday, as voters were somewhat slow going for one of the most anticipated election days in Boston history.

Outside the school voters were being greeted by several candidates, including two politicians not on the ballot - state Rep. Ed Coppinger, D-West Roxbury, and District 6 City Councilor Matt O'Malley.

"It's been relatively quiet," said Coppinger, who was expecting a higher turnout after 4 p.m. Coppinger cast his vote for John Connolly early in the morning.

As of 12:20 p.m., the totals for Ward 20 precincts were as followed: Precinct 6 - 391; Precinct 7 - 190; Precinct 11 - 173; Precinct 12 - 270; Precinct 13 - 222; Precinct 17 - 397; Precinct 18 - 225, Precinct 19 - 256; and Precinct 20 - 283.

Several old timers who know the West Roxbury precincts well said the totals were somewhat low for that time, and hope was being held out for more voters to come in after work.
