Rep. Ed Coppinger Sworn into Second Term for House of Representatives

Coppinger embarks on his second term as a Massachusetts state Representative.

On Wednesday, state Rep. Ed Coppinger was sworn into his second term as the state Rep. for the 10th Suffolk District, representing West Roxbury, Roslindale and Brookline.

“I am very grateful to the residents of West Roxbury, Roslindale and Brookline for their strong support this fall and I look forward to being a strong voice for them on Beacon Hill," said Coppinger via press release.

Coppinger highlighted his work from his first two years in office. He worked with colleagues to pass two balanced budgets that closed significant revenue gaps without raising taxes, but instead used targeted spending cuts and careful reform. He championed the Legislature reforming the Probation Department, alimony and pension systems.

Coppinger also worked to increase public safety, being a cosponsor and strong supporter of Melissa’s Bill, which cracks down habitual offenders and an anti-human trafficking bill that is already being used to prosecute offenders.

“I hope the next two years will be as successful as my first term,” said Coppinger. “I will continue to fight for our children and seniors by ensuring education programs and senior services are protected from any budget cuts.”

State Senator Michael Rush, D-Norfolk/Suffolk, was also sworn, for his second term in the Massachusetts Senate.

“I am excited to continue partnering with Senator Mike Rush with whom I have a great personal and working relationship. He has done a great job in the Senate and West Roxbury could not ask for a better Senator,” added Coppinger.
