Standing in front of a dais studded with Boston and Massachusetts power elites, Marty Walsh was sworn in as the 54th mayor of Boston. And Walsh spared little time telling the assembled crowd his vision of leadership.
"I will listen, I will learn, I will lead," said Walsh.
Walsh listed a few items he wants to tackle in his first year in office, like finding a new school superintendent and police commissioner; creating a city ethics panel; and reforming the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
Walsh also took a moment to thank former Mayor Ton Menino.
"His legacy is already legend, and his vision is all around us," said Walsh.
Senator Elizabeth Warren, Governor Deval Patrick, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan were among the luminaries at the inauguration, held Monday at Boston College's Conte Forum.
