Massachusetts State Rep. Edward Coppinger (D-Boston), who represents West Roxbury, was named Legislator of the Year last week by the National Association of Insurance an d Financial Advisors.
Coppinger, who was elected as State Rep. for the 10th Suffolk District in 2010, was honored for participating in NAIFA's New Legislator reception in 2011 and subsequently signing on as a cosponsor to the organization's bill, "An Act Relative to the Continuing Education of Insurance Producers" (HB 870).
Coppinger currently serves as the lead legislator sponsor of the bill, which has reached a third reading in the state House of Representatives.
"NAIFA is thankful for the leadership of Representative Coppinger in helping to advance HB 870," Adam Sachs, NAIFA-MA Government Relations Chair, said in a statement. "Not only will this legislation grant NAIFA members three continuing insurance education credits by virtue of being an active member, it will also provide citizens with access to more ethical and better qualified agents."
