West Roxbury Cleanups for 'Boston Shines' This Weekend

Volunteers are welcome at all of the scheduled neighborhood cleanups.

 

West Roxbury is really going to shine after this weekend thanks to several scheduled Boston Shines cleanups in the neighborhood.

The is happening around Boston neighborhoods this weekend, specifically on Saturday in West Roxbury. Many groups and individuals have already registered to help make West Roxbury shine.

The biggest cleanup is of Centre Street, and volunteers are welcome to show up on Saturday to get their hands dirty.

"If you do not have a project in mind but would like to participate, please come down to the Hastings Street Municipal Lot," said , West Roxbury Coordinator of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services. The lot is at the corner of Hastings and Centre streets. Meet there at 8:30 a.m. and from there you'll be provideded t-shirts, gloves and tools to spruce up Centre Street.

, D-Norfolk/Suffolk, will provide coffee and donuts and r, D-West Roxbury, will provide bottled water for volunteers.

will be participating in this cleanup and planting flowers that will be provided. Other participating groups include West Roxbury Main Streets, Chestnut Hill Realty, Roche Community Center, Ohrenberger Community Center, Draper Pool, Washington/Grove Business Association, the Bellevue Hill-Stony Brook Clean Up, West Roxbury Education Complex, West Roxbury District Court, Parkway Little League and more.

Other Boston Shines cleanups will take place at and the Bellevue Hill area:

  • Bellevue Hill Improvement Association will be conducting a cleanup of the Stony Brook Park on Bellevue Hill this Saturday. The cleanup will start at 9 a.m. and go until noon. All those interested should plan to meet at the west side of the Bellevue Hill water tower by the steps leading up from Bellevue Hill Road. Please plan on wearing proper cleanup attire, bring your own gloves and water bottle. Trash bags will be provided. Meet at the pathway located at the intersection of Bellevue Hill Road and Bellevue Street. Park on Bellevue Street, as Bellevue Hill Road will be too narrow to park on.
  • The Dog Park Association of Southwest Boston will be at Millennium Park from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to clean the lower trails. Please meet near the canoe ramp. Refreshments, tools and gloves will be provided. Find out more at: www.dogparkboston.org.
