Roxbury Latin Students from West Roxbury Shine in Globe Scholastic Art Awards

Three Roxbury Latin students and West Roxbury residents earned recognition for their talents in painting and sculpture in the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards.

 

Marcell Budavari, Shaun Houlihan, and Josh Racine, all Roxbury Latin students and West Roxbury residents, were recently recognized in the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards. Marcell and Shaun, both seniors, received Silver Key Awards in the Sculpture category, Marcell for his Wild Boar and Shaun for his Wanna Play Some Cards? Josh, a sophomore, was recognized with an Honorable Mention in the Painting category for his Winterwoods (Ode To Paul George).

In total, more than 13,000 pieces of artwork from students across Massachusetts were submitted in 13 categories. Judges chose to celebrate exceptional work with the award categories of Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention. All individual work recognized with a Gold Key and Silver Key award will be on view and open to the public in the Massachusetts Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, in Boston. The exhibit will be open from Monday, February 11 to Friday, April 19, with a special exhibit and awards presentation on Sunday, March 3.
