Boston Latin School Boys Soccer Ties Undefeated Somerville, 0-0

Wolfpack held down standout Felix De Bona, but neither team could get one in the net.

Editor's note: The following is from Boston Latin School boys soccer coach Jason Miller.

The Boston Latin School boys soccer squad shutdown high-powered and undefeated Somerville at Millennium Park on Tuesday, 0-0.

The Wolfpack continued its strong play of late, combining to shutdown Felix De Bona through terrific team defense and the exceptional efforts of West Roxbury's Vlad Ventura.

Making his first-ever varsity start, Ventura was tasked with marking De Bona. The young Wolf locked the New England Revolution Youth Program and Malaga CF product down. Ventura won the battle against one of the very best attackers in the country. Aiding Ventura's efforts was tremendous defending from the Latin outside backs -- and cousins from West Roxbury -- Mark Favorito and Joe Petruzziello. Also playing strong defense as centerbacks were Joey Tarantino of West Roxbury and Jake French of Beacon Hill. Central players Jordan Freundlich of Jamaica Plain and Alex Cassesso of West Roxbury performed yeoman's work in the middle for the Wolfpack, which takes on Lincoln-Sudbury Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Millennium Park.
