Catholic Memorial Wrestlers Earn Four Sectional Titles

Catholic Memorial School's varsity wrestling team captured four individual titles at the Division II Metro Sectional Tournament.

 

Catholic Memorial School’s varsity wrestling team captured four individual titles at the Division II Metro Sectional Tournament on Saturday, February 16 at Quincy High School. Those earning titles included senior Paul Curtin (132-lbs.), juniors Brian Ferrara (113-lbs.) and Mark Gutierrez (120-lbs.) and sophomore Mike Aquino (106-lbs.).

"I'm proud of this team," said Coach Alex Strum, who will lead them to states at Marshfield on February 19. "Four sectional titles is a school record and it was the most of any team in the section."

Overall, the wrestling team finished 4th at Metro Sectionals, with the victory strengthened by senior Sean Sullivan, juniors Dylan Wolusky and Sean Loftus and sophomore Pat Ferzoco, all of whom placed.
