Corrib Classic to Return June 1, Registration Now Open

The Corrib Classic 5K Road Race is returning to West Roxbury this year. 

The 21st annual race will kick off at 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at Billings Field on LaGrange Street in West Roxbury, directly behind the Corrib Pub and Restaurant.

The race has grown from 250 runners in 1994 to 2,500 runners and 150 volunteers in 2013, and has raised more than $1 million for youth organizations and other charities in the West Roxbury area, according to the race's website. Proceeds from the race benefit the Corrib Charitable Trust, Inc.

The course begins at Billings Field and proceeds down LaGrange Street, taking a right onto the VFW Parkway, a right onto Corey Street, a left onto Weld Street, a right onto Maple STreet, a right onto Centre Street, a left onto Bellevue Street, a right onto Howitt Street, a right onto LaGrange Street and a downhill finish to Billings Field, according to the race's information page at CoolRunning.com. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female racers in eight different age groups. 

The race is hosted by the Bligh family and sponsored by the Cooperative Bank and New Balance, while the Gormley Funeral Home in West Roxbury is serving as the patron of the event.
